This is a process I've been working on since May of 2020. For more than two years, I have had friends and clients alike ask me to bring my Instagram doodles to life - to take photos and paint on them—but I turned their requests down. I was unsure if I could do the project from start to finish and make it my own. Finally, in May, with a little extra time from COVID-19, I said yes. The entire process was engaging and fun to undertake, from styling to photographing, photoshopping, designing, and painting. My hope is that families, while watching each of theirs or their childrens' personalities come to life, are reminded of the memories they had during this crazy up-and-down time of coronavirus.
As a photography major in college, my senior project incorporated street photography, dresses made of canvas, and large canvas paintings. Ten years later, I still love all things dealing with photography, styling, and painting. It is a dream to be able to incorporate all three aspects into a single project.
Most of my commissions for clients incorporate meaningful and special memories, names, and dates significant to the family. When thinking about quarantine and the unique life everyone lived, I believe we need to capture this period of time in a unique fashion. Simultaneously, the requests for my Instagram doodles were coming in.
"Corona Capture" was born.
